APEC ICT4E Expo 2010 Conference Materials

The APEC ICT4E Exposition 2010 Conference was held June 9 through 10, 2010 at the Hilton Hotel in Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, in partnership with the Department of Education of the Philippines, invited educators, academicians, development practitioners and policymakers to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Information and Communication Technology for Education (ICT4E) Expo. ICT4E is one of the Education Network's (EDNET) priority areas to promote education for all. The Expo Secretariat called for papers or presentations that addressed various ICT4E issues of relevance especially to developing economies in Asia-Pacific. The Expo’s main objective was to facilitate sharing of experiences and best practices on ICT4E.

ICT for the Alternative Learning System

The objective of this presentation is: to support the efforts of DepEd to integrate ICT in the teaching and learning process; to help BALS broaden access to basic education; to help BALS produce and use interactive multimedia learning materials for out-of-school youth and adults, with particular focus on the development of life skills, to reduce the digital divide by providing disadvantaged youth and adults with access to ICT.

ICT - Supported Distance Education towards Lifelong Learning for All in Asia

The first, PANdora: PAN Distance and Open Resources Access Project (2005 - 2008) aimed to understand the positive and negative impacts of Information and Communication Technologies on people, culture, the economy, and society, so as to strengthen ICT uses that promote sustainable development on the Asian continent. The second project, "PANdora 2": Openness and Quality in DE in Asia Project (2010- 2012) aims to imporve the quality of distance education and lifelong training delivery to remote, rural and marginalized communitites in Asia and respond to their livelihood and health concerns.
