Institute for Information Industry (III), Chinese Taipei

The Institute for Information Industry (III) aggressively promotes the enterprise-wide automation of traditional industries. As a knowledge databank, III engages in the strategic planning of Chinese Taipei's information and communication industries and helps to integrate technology in human resource development. By monitoring global technological trends, III develops key information and communication technologies, utilizing and utilizes this accumulated expertise to support the information industry in their the development of added-value products and services to enhance with enhanced competitive advantages. 

Establishing a systematic method for providing continued support to the information industries in the future. III has set up six information system research and development laboratories to carry out this mission in order to establish a systematic method for providing continued support in the future to information industries. The six technology laboratories submit more than 90 patent applications annually. Research results from these laboratories can be considered impressive when measured by the rate of technology transfers. Each year, III conducts an average of 40 technology transfers to domestic companies. These transfers have resulted in new product developments and contracts from overseas, with an estimated total output value in billions of New Taiwan dollars.
